cpu speed when uploading frontpage files

why is my cpu processing at 100% when i am uploading my frontpage files? I am
getting terribly frustrated as it takes ages and mostly doesn;t happen.
Especially when trying to upload photo galleries

This isn't a FrontPage issue, as Images will always increase your
publishing time.

Have you used an image editor to resample them to optimize the file
size??
