CPU usage spikes to 100% every 5 seconds when Outlook open

I am running Win XP with Office 2007. When I have Outlook open the CPU
spikes regularly to 100% every 5 seconds or so. I have disabled all
add-ins in Outlook, but with no effect. As far as I am aware I don't
have Business Contact Manager running. I have AVG antivirus but all
scans are coming back clean. When outlook is closed CPU usage is
normal.

Any ideas woudl be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion but this seems to make no difference. I
turned off the AVG e-mail scanner, which I did have on, and made sure
no add-ins were working, and I still get the same CPU usage problem.

Any further thoughts would be appreciated!

Jessica

Is AVG integrated with Outlook? Disable email scanning and remove any addins
it installed - it will cause problems such as this.

Turning it off may not be enough. Uninstall AVG and reinstall it without the
mail scanner.

Hi Brian

I think I might have just cracked it. As it was suggested that it was
a conflict I tried all permutations of the programs I had
running.....the difficulty seemed to be with me running Skype and
Outlook at the same time. I turned off the link between Skype and my
Outlook contacts from within Skype and now it seems, fingers crossed,
to be working OK.

Thanks very much for your help though as it started me off on the
right track.

Skype is known to cause conflicts in Outlook.
