Crash on Mail Merge when adding a graphic

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I keep attempting to add a small .jpg graphic to some name tags I'm attempting to create in Word 2008 for Mac Version 12.1.0 on my Intel G5 Mac OS 10.5.8.

I am able to see the graphic on the preview (Step 5 in Mail Merge) but when I click Merge to New Document I get the colorful beach ball that rolls and rolls and I have to force quit.

The .jpg file isn't that big a file so this is become really frustrating.

I saw some former posts from Nov. 2008 about a bug. Has this not been fixed yet??

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Tammy;

I believe it was fixed in one of the updates you haven't applied. It's
surprising you aren't having more problems running Office in Leopard without
SP2 (12.2.0) & the 12.2.1 update. Get the software updated, repair disk
permissions then see if the problem continues.
