Crashing Powerpoint and Corrupt Files

I am on G4 with OS 10.1.5 and Office X. A co-worker with OS 9.1 and
Office 2001 and I work on PowerPoint presentations together and they
are mailed mailed back and forth between us. Recently when I open a
ppt file that he has emailed to me, it crashes and says that
PowerPoint has quit unexpectedly. Or that the file may be corrupt.
This usually happens when I try to print or save the file. this only
happens with a few files, others have been fine.

A friend suggested that we upgrade my co-worker's computer to OS X and
his Office suite to X as well. We did this and now not only am I not
able to keep a file open on my machine, but he is experienceing the
same problem with his.

I have put an incredible amount of effort in to this particular
document, and now I am very worried about the status of this file.

Can anyone help?
Thanks.

First try applying the latest Office updates. For Office X, download and
install the latest Office X updates, which are 10.1.2 and 10.1.4 (10.1.3 is
unnecessary). They¹re available from Microsoft.

If this is occurring with all files all the time, try the suggestions here:

If this is only occurring with a few presentations, it is possible those
presentations are corrupt. Try the tips here:
