Crashing when trying to Publish to/Export To MS Word

We converted an Access 97 database to Access 2000 last year. Since the conversion, publishing a report to MS Word, either by using the Word icon or going to Tools_OfficeLinks_Publish It with MS Word has been very touchy. Sometimes the reports export, and most times they don't - the entire application just closes without warning. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I fix it? My users are getting very very annoyed with this
