Create a document in sharepoint

I am having an issue with SharePoint when trying to
create a Word document from within the Documents. We
have install OWC11.exe but when I try to create a Word
document for within I am getting error stating.

"The document name or path is not valid. Try one or
more of the following:
- Check the path to make sure it was typed correctly
(which it is)
- On the File menu, click Open. Search for the file
using the dialog box
(defaultsavelocation=0_60=http://servername/)


The pcs are running Office 2000 SR1. I am not sure if
they need to be on a later SR for 2000 or not. Most of
the Managers are on XP so I have not encountered this
problem when applying OWC.11.

Hi Marc,

I could be off here but... you may have answered your own question.
The level of Office may be needed to accomplish your task.

Maybe one of the MVP's will jump in to correct me here...

Marc:

For STS (2002) you need Office XP or better for this feature
For WSS (2003) you need Office 2003 for this feature to work
