Create additional Project Web Access Sites

Using 2007
We would like to create additional Project Web Access Sites with the Quick
Launch, Project Center, etc - default.aspx. - NOT new project workspaces.

How can this be done?

Thanks

Go into Sharepoint Central Admin, find the Shared Service Provider, and provision
a new PWA site - make sure to use new names for the databases.

Hi RQ,

As Andrew suggest you can easily initiate a new PWA site, but please note,
this will be a new PWA site excluding any settings you may have in your
current site. Also you cannot have an "overall view" of all Projects within
both PWA instances. You would have to create a report in order to achieve
this.
Hope this helps

Andrew, Marc thanks for the feedback. We received another suggestion to
create a site under the main site so we would not have seperate databases.
So we have the Home page site and then a second sub-site. On the second site
I added the Project Center web part. When I tried to add the Project Details
web part to the second site an error appears "there are no projects set for
this web part". The link in Project Center on the second site goes to
Project Details on the Home page.

Do you know how I can resolve the error on the Project Details Web Part and
get to Project Details from Project Center on the second site and NOT go back
to the Home page?

We like the idea of the sub-site since it allows us to minimize what is on
the Quick Launch and visible to the end users for a particular department.

Thanks

Sorry RQ, I have never heard that you can create a project web access subsite
of another project server instance and to he honest I dont believe that this
would work.
If you could specify what exactly you have done, then I may be able to give
you more assistance
Thanks

Marc,

On the Home Page in PWA under Site Settings - selected Manage Settings on
this site.

Selected Sites and Workspaces
Selected Create
Created a Team Site

The new site appeared as a second tab next to the Home tab in PWA.

We were able to modify the web parts on the site to add Project Center but
then received an error on Project Details.

One of the problems we had that led to this approach is we have users who
will only access Project Center and Project Details but I could not through
Security changes get the Quick Launch link for Issues and Risks removed on
their Home page other then removing Issues and Risks from Quick Launch for
everyone. Others will need this link. If you know how I can through
Security remove Issues and Risks from Quick Launch for a group of users that
would help.

Thanks

Hi RQ,

aha, you actually havent created a brand new PWA site, but only a sub site
to display the Project Center web part again.

I am sure you are able to hide the Risks and Issue, the big question would
of course be why? since the resource would only ever see the risks and issues
that are assigned to them, I cannot think of a reason why you would want to
hide it from them. I am sure you have good reasons for this :)
Thanks

Marc,

Yes - the Issues and Risks are not going to be used in this case -
management is really trying to leverage the tool as a simple task list for
end users to see so I am being asked to simplify the view as much as
possible.

Do you know if I can get the Project Details to work on the sub site that
was created?

RQ, what you essentially done is to add the Project Center web part to
another page. The information itself should still be the same than in your
original Project Center. You can amend the views to have a "simple" view of
all of your projects. The information you always need in a view is the
Project Name, start and finish date.
Hope this helps

Marc,

Thanks - I will have to work with this a little more to see if the
presentation of information is what the management team is looking for.
