create jump menu - doesn't work

FP2003
I am using the 'jump menu' behavior.
When I use the 'modify option', to select the the URL to jump to (from the
browse list)...FP ignores my selection. When I repeat the process to verify
my selection, the 'value' field is blank.

Update:
The jump menu is located inside my left-hand shard border.
I created a second jump menu inside the body of the page. FP behaves more
normally...but I am still having some quirks.
When testing, the new jump menu 'jumps' without permitting me to select from
the drop down list.

Update #2:
I solved that problem by putting a '#' in the first selection item value
field.
I can now select an item from the list (on the FIRST test cycle).
On the second cycle, it jumps before I can make a selection.
I tried to use the "select first item after URL change" option.
Now FP crashes with the "Send...No Send" error message.
Now I am really stuck!!!

Note: My Outlook Express also crashes occasionally with the same type message.

Workaround:
I can get my jumpmenu coded using this method:
1. Create the menu list using "Form Field Properties".
2. "save" after each change.
3. Move the jumpmenu outside the shared border.
4. Add hyperlinks using format/behavior.
5. Move jumpmenu back inside shared border.

I wish someone had tried to help me out here!!!
