Create New Task from Existing Task (O-'03)

Can I change some Outlook setting so that if today I create a new Task by
copying an existing Task from yesterday, the new Task is copied exactly BUT
will show a "Created" date of today instead of yesterday? In other words,
when I create a new Task from an older existing Task, I get (but don't want)
an exact copy of that Task down to the older "Created" field value. What I
want is an almost exact copy of that older Task: Exact in all regards EXCEPT
for the "Ceated" field value, which I would like to have register as the date
the copy is made.

CONTEXT: I use a Task folder in Detailed List view as a phone log. I
display the following fields: Check-box, Categroy, Importance, Created,
Subject, Attachment, Date Completed. I usually sort by "Created"to see when
a call has come in and how long it has gone un-dealt with. I often deal with
a call and then carry it over for follow-up. I carry it over by simply
copying the entry. When I do this in my office, the new entry (the new Task
item copied from the older existing one) gets a new "Created" date -- the
date the copy is made. At home, though, the copy is exact and the new entry
keeps the old or original "Created" date. I would like the new Task entry to
carry a new "Created" date, to wit, the date on which the copy was made and
not the date the original Task was created. Help!

Thank you.

Are you using the same version of outlook and mail server in both locations?

Yes, my office uses Outlook 2003 and I have used it since it came out. We
used prior versions of Outlook bnefore that, and I always tran the same
version as our office. I don't know what "mail server" means, but I'll try
to answer the best I can. I think in our office, we use an Exchange Server
for e-mail and other things. Up until recently we were using an old exchange
software and we recently upgraded to 2003 Exchange. However even before the
upgrade, my office Outlook would always give me a new "Created" date when I
copied a Task (at least since Seprtember of 1994 when I first started using a
Task list as my phone log). At home, my personal Outlook 2003 works together
with my sbcglobal.net e-mail address. I don't like the inflexibility of
internet e-mail, so Outlook fetches it for me and I never have to use the
Yahoo! e-mail pages or worry about storage limits.

I hope I answered your questions, and please don't hersitate to e-mail back
with anything at all.

Thank youi.
