Create new task

I'm trying to create a new task and edit a task without opening the full task
window. There is some pane that I'm unable to find to do this. Can someone
help?

Ctrl+Shift+K - Create new task. For me at least

Which version do you have

I have Outlook 2003. Your suggestion does work to open the tasks window.
However I am lookin for the bar that says "click here for new task". I know
it is possible because I hade it on my old computer. I cand figure how to get
this to work on my new computer.

r-click the toolbar area and tick, "standard" , you will then find what
you are looking for under "New".
