create pivot table with master/detail data from 2 worksheets

I am trying to create a report that combines master datat (Sales
Opportunities) with detailed history showing the date when various tasks
related to the Opportunities were completed. The data comes in two separate
exports to two worksheets - joined by a common id field. Any suggestions. I
tried the Consolidate process to create a cross tab but I don't want any of
the consolidate "summary functions" like sum or avg.
