While it is certainly possible to create unique work calendars for each
resource, the color coding may or may not be possible depending on
exactly what you are seeking.
I assume when you say "color code" you are referring to the Gantt bars
because those are the only graphical items that can be customized for
color. However doing so in the manner you want (i.e. by resource by
shift) may prove to be much more trouble than it is worth. Basically it
would require setting up a bunch of spare start and finish fields to
coincide with resources and shifts, and there are only 10 spare start
and finish fields unless you want to dip in to the baseline start and
finish fields.
The bottom line - Project is an excellent planning and scheduling
application but it isn't real great of making those schedules a work of
art.
