Creating a distribution list

I can create the list but I can't use it to mail anything. I am trying to
send an email to the managers at my company. I created a distribution list
named managers, however I can not use it to email anything. I get an error
msg telling me it can't find "managers" in any of my address lists and says
"no suggestions". What am I doing wrong?

The first thing you are doing wrong is not supplying enough detailed
information about your problem. Be a little more specific please.

Sorry it is 2003 version. I can create the list and name it but can't use it
to send email. I go to actions and opt for the "new message to contact".
When the to: fills in with my name that I used to create the distribution
list... I get an error msg that says "check names" microsoft office outlook
does not recognize "names" no suggestions. It doesn't go anywhere........

How did you make the DL?
Where did you make the DL?
What are you doing to make the name resolve?

I click on the contacts tab in the navigation section. I click new at the
top to create a new distribution list. Then I give it a name and start
selecting the members I want in the list. This I get from the Global address
list. I save it and when I try to send a message using the list I just
created I can't find it in any of my available address lists.

1. if you type the name of your new DL in the To... field and click the
CheckNames button (or Ctrl K) does Outlook find it?

2. If you click the To... button and go to the Contacts Folder, does it
appear in the list of Contacts?

I believe you have been the person who I have been communicating to and
mentioned something regarding the configuration. That is right our MIS
department reconfigured my outlook and the distribution list works fine.
Thanks for everybody's help. This is a great community of problem solving
that has helped me in numerous office software issues. Thanks again.
