creating a letterhead in Word

I want to make a letterhead with my logo on the left and
a solid line from the top of the page to the bottom
directly to the right of my logo.

What is the best approach to this? A two column table?
How do I make the line "attach" to my logo?

Set the page layout to have a different first page header, then in the first
page header insert your logo and set a suitable wrap option for it. Use the
line tool on the drawing toolbar to draw the line where you want it. Select
the line and the logo and group them (if you need them grouped) - from the
option on the drawing toolbar. Close the header view.
