creating a list using the index

You have marked the list, but now you need to create an
index:

To Generate an Index:
Position the insertion point where you want the index to
display.
Enter the heading for the index. Use a heading style if
you want the index heading included in your table of
contents.
Press <Enter> a couple of times to leave some space after
the heading.
Click Insert > Reference > Index and Tables > Index tab.
Select the format from the Formats drop-down list.
Click OK.
