Creating a Sharepoint site independent of PWA

Friends,

I noticed the other day that when I created a PMO site as a subweb of
the PWA site collection, I'm required to use IE to open it as I am for
PWA.

What is the best way to create a stand-alone WSS site on the same
server at the same level as PWA? The purpose will be to house PM
documentation, PM class schedules, FAQ database etc. I'd like folks
to be able to open this site with FireFox and other browsers if
desired.

Would it be best to use an entirely different installation of WSS
outside of Project Server?

Thanks,

hi Andy,

To create a site collection on same level as PWA use WSS Central
Administration. Under application management you have the option 'create new
site collection'. Give it a name you prefer and choose one of the site
templates and off you go.

You do not need to use a different installation for this.

I like to create a managed path at <servername>/projects and create a
site collection there, too. Then have all the project workspaces
created underneath that /projects site and use the top-level site (/
projects) for storing all your FAQs, training materials, PM Docs,
etc. I can't guarantee you can open it via FireFox, but it is a
separate site from PWA and on the same hierarchy level as PWA.
