Creating a smart shape

What I am looking to do is create a shape that has the following:

1. basic layout with editable 3 part header. easy to do.
2. has specific text blocks with connection points.
a. attached to the connection points are connectors that can be extended
to connect to other shapes.
3. the shape expands using a drop down box with the above specific text
blocks being displayed.

I do not know how to create a database of shapes that could be selected and I
do not know how to create a drop down box to select the shapes from.

Is this information available somewhere.
