Creating An Online Project Iniation Program

Hi,

We are in the planning stage of creating a Project Initation Form in
Dot Net for staff to use when they want to create a new project in EPM.
It will involve other steps like approval from PMO etc, but the end
goal is to hopefully have a system that will automatically take an
approved project application, create a new project based on a template
(with multiple templates to choose from), fill in all the neccessary
project codes etc and create the WSS site for the project.

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has accomplished a
similar task so i could ask a few questions such as:

1. were there any major obsticles to look out for?
2. How long did it take
3. How effective is the system

I am still tossing up whether the output of the system just gives the
PMO the data for them to manually create the project or to try and go
the whole hog and get it to do everything.

Ray McCoppin did one for Sprint when I worked with him there. He has posted
in this newsgroup so you can search on his name. Hope he can help you out.

We were looking at doing on-line project initiation as well until we saw that
Project 2007 had included that. So now were going to evaluate what Project
2007 does first before we send time and development money on any 3rd party
solutions.
