creating and editing text in Outlook is very slow

I am running VISTA Home premium on a Dell Inspiron 1405 with MS Office 2007.
When I try to create a new mail message or to edit a reply I get a very slow
response in typing my input...typically a lag of 3-5 seconds between the time
I type the letter and the time it appears on the screen.

I recently upgraded my memory to 2 gb to see if it would help with this
problem...but no luck. Any ideas/suggestions out there?

Prior to editing a message, open the Windows Task Manager. Look at the
processes tab and sort the CPU column to show the "busiest" process on top.
Start editing a message and when it begins to lag, make note of which
process is taking up the most CPU time and how much it is taking (like 90%
or 70%, for example). Post back with the result.

Clear your Restricted security zone in IE and/or make Outlook Today the
startup folder for Outlook. Also make sure you've installed the Outlook
perfomance hotfix.
