Creating birthday invitations

I would like to create some pretty invitations for a girl's 1st birthday. Do
you have any suggestions on the best way to do this?

This depends on how much time you are willing to invest. You can
accomplish this in Word but personally I've found using software
specifically designed for creating cards is the fastest.
