creating custom section lines for an engineering drawing

I have followed the instructions for creating custom fill patterns very
closely without success. I do a large number of technical drawings with Visio
2003 but the section lines available in the fill pattern drop down box are
too finely spaced for many situations.

The lines I am referring to are the ones angled at 45 degrees near the top
of the fill patterns drop down box. I want the same but with greater sapcing
between the lines.
