Creating Date Field In Word 2002 SP3

When creating a Date Field (ie. March 1, 2006) via Insert/Field/Create Date,
Word defaults to a date in the past (ie. April 27, 2005) and cannot be fully
edited to correct date. The 5 in 2005 remains no matter what you try to do.
I have tried Update Field, changing the current date and Update field,
uninstalled/reinstalled Word and still no change.

Check the date of your computer. Also, you may want to check the date
of the document. (File, Properties)

I checked the dates under properties on this file and they did not correspond
to the date that is appearing. I also originally checked the machine date,
and again checked it to be sure the date is current but still the problem
persists.

Is that happening on only one document, or is it across many
documents? If only one, then I suggest that it is possible that the
document is corrupted. If it is across many documents, then I would
attempt to repair Office. From the Help menu inside of one of your
office applications, select Detect and Repair. You will be prompted
to close out of all office applications, so be sure that you have
saved your work before you attempt.

Hopefully, that will help.
