creating groups

I have to create new groups in my organisation, but i dont now the steps i
have to follow.
I create a security template for that group and i assign a category, but do
i have to specify permisions for that category?

Yes, you have to assign permissions to the category or else it is
meaningless. Think of it this way, a group consist of a bunch of users who
will be using Project in a similiar way. The category is what they belong
too (ex. Administrators, Project Managers, General Users, Reasource Managers,
etc). You then must assign the category permissions which will propogate
down to the users in the group.

Also remember, leaving a permission blank means the user could be granted it
through another group they belong too, but marking a permission No overrules
any other Yes they might have been given on that permission.
