Creating In-bound email rules

M

Hi,

I setup a new email account on Exchange for job applicants to submit
resumes. I successfully created a rule that will forward all email sent to
this account to a newly created public folder. I also setup permissions to
limit access and visibility. However, a test of that rule did not appear to
work initially. It wasn't until I logged onto the exchange server as this
new account and executed Outlook that it hit the server and acquired all new
email. At that point it did and executed the rule and all new email was
successfully rerouted to this public folder. Onto my question.

Is there a way to make this rule work without having to logon as this
account and execute Outlook?

It sounds like you have created a client-side rule. You will need to
create server-side rule if you want the Exchange server to automatically
apply the rules.

It is doubtful that the public folder would be considered a standard
folder included in your Exchange mailbox, so you won't be able to define
a server-side rule to do what you want. However, since you cannot see
those messages until you connect using Outlook, what's the difference
whether it was a server-side or client-side rule?

The difference for me is that I don't want to log out of my personal client
and log back in as the client in question to execute the rule everyday.
