Creating Links in Split Task

I am trying to create a link from one task to another with
a little twist, I guess. Basically, I have a task that
needs to be temporarily paused while another task must be
completed before it can be finished. So I split the first
task, but I cannot seem to link the "end" (where the split
begins) to the second task. I will also need to link the
end of the second task back to the "start" (where the
split ends) of the first task. I hope I'm not just
overlooking something, but I am stumped. Any suggestions?

You cannot create links in the middle of a split task, since task
dependencies are set from either the Start or the Finish of a task. My
recommendation is that you break up the split task into two separtate tasks,
then you should be able to create your dependencies the way you wish. Hope
this helps.
