creating master calender, master shedule and hourly tasks.

Hi Folks,

I am new to the Project. Havent played for a while I realised I need advice.
I got a number of projects, and I wish to create calenders that will show
individual project daily workload and master calender for all projects
showing daily workload.

Master calender displayed in hours, where tasks are clearly indicated as to
duration, and perhaps project name. I would also like to assign different
tasks to a member of the groups who will then be able to report back to
project.

What would be the best way to do it?

Alex.

The calendar views within Project are not going to be useful for you since
they will get very crowded if there are more than just a couple of tasks
working each day.

It sounds like you will need a regular master schedule and multiple
subproject schedules. For your resources, I recommend a resource pool file.

Master projects are created by opening a new file and then inserting project
files into it from the Insert menu. Keep the "Linked" box checked so when
you update the subprojects it rolls into the master.

Resource pools are a little trickier. Make a new project with no tasks,
only resources on the resource sheet.

You can then open this Resource.mpp file along with each of your smaller
project and select Tools/Resource Sharing...

These are pretty advanced topics. I might also suggest a basic class in MS
Project techniques, etc. A good start is to look at fellow MVP Mike Glenn's
Tutorials, they are online and free here:

I think Tutorials 17 and 18 will be interesting for you.
