Creating Multicolored Shared Borders

How can I create a multicolored shared border? I'm trying to make my left
shared border a bar of several different colored boxes, instead of one solid
yellow bar (I'm customizing my theme). I then want to have a 1 point colored
line bordering these boxes. Is this all possible? How?

Create the content of your shared borders in separate tables w/ different cell or table colors
- for different border colors you will need separate one cell tables for each "box" or apply a CSS style to each cell in 1 table
