PPT will play a number of sound file types. MP3, WAV, MIDI, AIFF all
come to mind. If you go to Insert/Movies and Sounds/Sounds from File,
you'll see a list of the file types at the bottom of that dialog box.

To create them, you'd use sound editing software.

of places you can find sound files.
