Creating new views in Project Professional

N

NoviceUser

Can anyone point me to instructions on how to create new views (Project
Server 2003) within the global template in Project Professional.

If not, can someone please explain the process to do this so I can avoid
getting the errors whenever I open an existing project that tells me I have
to rename/replace various tables/views etc.

I would expect that I should be able to create a new view in the global
template and once it is saved and I reconnect to Project Server, the new view
would simply be available without having to 'fix' the duplicate names.

Thanks

If you are seeing the Duplicate View or Table error, refer to the following
FAQ to fix the problem:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/cantoverwriteobject.htm

Our recommended approach for creating custom Views is to follow this
process:

1. Open any enterprise project
2. Create the new custom View, including a custom Table, Filter, and/or
Group if needed
3. Test the new View in the project to confirm that it works as desired
4. Open the Enterprise Global for editing
5. Click Tools - Organizer
6. Using the Organizer, copy the new View, Table, Filter, and/or Group from
the enterprise project to the Enterprise Global
7. Save and close the Enterprise Global file
8. Close the enterprise project without saving it
9. Exit and relaunch Microsoft Project Professional

The above set of steps will prevent you from accidentally polluting the
Enterprise Global file with non-enterprise Views, Tables, Filters, or
Groups. Hope this helps.
