Creating subform contents from drop-down boxes in the main form

I would like to be able to select from a drop-down menu in the main form and
have it bring up the records relating to that selection in a subform. ie. In
the main form it has details relating to council meetings, eg. date, time,
which council, and when I select which council, it brings up a list of the
council members in the subform so that I can enter whether they attended or
not.
