Creating Subform: Dragging doesn't work

DianaS

Hello,

I am trying to create a subform in Access 2000, but clicking and dragging
one form into the other in database view (F11) is not working. Nothing
happens. The relationship is "one-to-many" as established in the
relationship page. The two forms share a field called "Leadnumber" in
common. "Leadnumber" is the primary key for Form1, and the foreign key in
Form2.

Both forms contain multiple tabs. Is this why I am not able to create a
subform? I would like the subform (Form2), with its multiple tabs, to appear
on the 2nd tab of the master form (Form1). How do I do this? Thanks! :)

Create both form separately. Open mainform in design view and click on the
toolbox icon (has a hammer and wrench crossed) and move over the icons to
find the subform. Click and select the form to be subform. Draw it in the
mainform. There will be prompts for the master and child links.

The procedure for putting one form onto another form as a subform by
dragging is to open the target form -- the one that will be the main
form -- in design view, then drag the other form from the database
window and drop it onto the "canvas" of the target form at the location
you want it. Are you saying that's not working?

Hi, I was dragging into the menu bar instead of into the canvas. Thanks to
both of you.
