I want to be able to use the Crime Scene templates. I can only find a
download for Visio 2000. Where can I find these for Visio XP?

Hello,

You need to use the same download even for Visio 2002 or Visio 2003. With
some limitations these templates can be used for the newer versions of
Visio.

Crime scenes add-in is fully supported only by Visio 2000 version.

In case you want to use this add-in in Visio 2003 it is not supportable.
You may use this add-in under Visio 2003 with some limitations.

1. Create a file called visio.ini, using notepad, in the directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visio11 and then point out this directory
during the crime scene add-in installation which will do the following:

a. creates two text files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visio11
named as: Solution License Agreement.txt and Crime Scenes Readme.txt

b. creates an uninstallation file: DeIsL1.isu and create a folder named
Solutions where a subdirectory called Crime Scenes present with the
required .vst & .vss
files for the add-in.

2. In order to get the Crime Scenes in the File - New and under Choose
Drawing Type of Visio 2003, do the following: ( if the files for Crime
Scenes are in the same
directory, simply follow the steps below.)

a. Make sure the files for the add-in present under a folder called Crime
Scenes.

b. Launch Visio; select TOOLS --> OPTIONS-->ADVANCED; click on FILE PATHS
button; provide the parent directory under the TEMPLATES
( Ex: enter C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visio11\Solutions; if the
folder Crime Scenes present under Solutions folder. NOTE: Make sure to put
the semi colon)
and click the OK button twice. Then close Visio and re-launch it. You will
find Crime Scenes in the File -New as well as in Choose Drawing type.

3. You can use the templates as usual under Visio 2003; but, it is not
possible to get help for the shapes of the add-in as like in Visio 2000.

Hope this helps.
