Is there a easy way to see with of the predecessors of a task is causing
negative slack without going to all of them one by one?

Insert the total slack column and filter to it as less than 0.
If you want to see only that chain you can use something like Pert Chart
Expert or write some VBA code to do the filter.

Negative Slack is caused by a missed Constraint date, such as Finish No
Later Than, or a missed Deadline date. I would simply "eyeball" the tasks
in question, looking for one that has a missed Constraint date or a missed
Deadline date. Beyond this, there is no automatic way to accomplish what
you want to do. Hope this helps.

Turn on autofilter.
Filter for the lowest amount of slack.
In most cases the earliest task in that chain is the cause.
Of course, there may be different causes too, depending on which sorts of
dependencies there are and summary task links etc.
But that will give you a good starting point to investigate from.
