CROPPING IMAGES STORED ON THE CLIPBOARD

J

John Law

I would be very grateful if somebody could help me with the following
problem.

I have captured a screenshot onto the clipboard, I would now like topaste it
into a Word

document but I need to crop the picture so that only part of it will be
pasted into my

document.

I would appreciate any help, thanking you in advance.

Regards

John

The graphic needs to be pasted _someplace_ before it can be edited in any
way. Why not go ahead & paste into your doc then use Word's Crop tool or the
Picture Properties dialog to do the croping? I personally prefer to work
through another graphics app to finalize before putting any images into a
doc, but which program I use depends on the circumstances.

If you tend to do this on a regular basis you may want to have a look at
SnagIt - a great deal of capability for a very reasonable price & you can
download a free trial;

It is very simple. Do the following:
1. Capture the image using the "Print Screen" on your key board.
The image is stored in the clipboard.
2. Click Start->All programs-> Accessories->Paint
This will open the "Microsoft Paint' application program.
3. Click Edit->Paste
The image is pasted from the clipboard.
4. click the Select Icon from the left pallete
5. Select the area you want to copy - Marquee appears
6. Right click the selected portion and select "Copy"
7. Move to you Word document using the Alt+Tab
8. Click Paste.

Important: This will reduce the image file size. If you place the image
directly inside the document, you are only cropping the image using the
cropping tool, the image size would still remain same beacuse, you pan the
image to display the whole image again. The image displays the cropped
portion, but the whole image still exists.
