Cross browser question

Hi,

I built a website using Pub 2003. It is now on the internet.
www.anovelmillion.com
I have been made aware through a few people that some links and formatting
are not working in Firefox. I have read through the comments here that there
is bad cross browser support.

Basically about 30% of people who have looked at my site are using firefox.
I am wondering 2 things: Firstly, does anyone here have different types of
browsers that they could check out my site on and tell me how bad it is in
each type of browser.

Secondly, what recommendations would you have for me given how good/bad it
looks, and the choices available?

Thanks Deech

deech,

Pub 2003 does have limited cross browser support, but in your case you can
work around it. First of all, I would suggest that you download and install
FireFox so you can test your site. Don't wait until someone tells you it
doesn't work. If you are going to take the time to build a site, you should
take the time to test it.
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/releases/1.5.0.4.html

You will note that after you get past your index.htm page, you have included
both a navbar at the top and the bottom of the page. The top navbar works
just fine, while the one at the bottom has been converted to an image, and
killed the links. There is a workaround.

The formatting on your Buy Words page is off in Firefox. There is a
workaround.

If you are interested in fixing your site, then please repost in the
webdesign group: microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign, and I'll help
you....but download and install FireFox first, because you will need to test
the fixes.

And in the meantime, you might want to read: "Are You Cross Browser
Compatible? by Matt Benya":

Hi Dave,

thanks a lot. That is really useful information. I will download it when I
get home tonight and do as you say.

Thanks Deech

Deech,

In addition to David's suggestion to download Firefox, you should also
download Opera. There are also tools you can add that will check for
html compatibility, page download times, etc.

BTW, I wouldn't give up your day job in the hopes of getting rich from
your idea!

I have just spent 10 minutes reviewing the site in Opera 8, IE 6, Firefox
1.05 and Avant. I saw no differences! I always check my web sites in these.

Thanks both Chuck and Mike for taking the time to help me out on
this......Mike, I hear what you are saying. I used to think it was such a
great idea, but I'm not so sure anymore. At least I've learnt a bit about how
to make websites, and also gotten this "idea" out of my head and given it a
possibility of working (if I hadn't of done it, I would probably always be
wondering "what if"). But, I'm definitely a lot more understanding now that
there is a huge possiblity that this is not going to be successful.

Deech,

If you are serious about building sites, I heartily recommend looking at
Serif's WebPlus. A new version is supposed to be released July 17 that
will include the ability to build forms, create a photo gallery, and
incorporate e-commerce with support for PayPal, Roman Cart and Mal's
e-commerce.
