I have an opportunity to purchase a full unopened retail copy of Office2003
(French) I believe that it is possible to exchange or obtain an English
version free of charge to replace this one. Does anyone have knowledge of
this or any other information that may help me.

Thanks
Ray

Hi Ray,

You'd need to contact MS directly on this as far as switching the base
language version.. It's not a listed policy that I recall. There is a
technology guarantee program to allow purchases of Office 2003 between
October 26, 2006 and February 28, 2007
to obtain a low/no cost copy of Office 2007 when it becomes available.

Hi Ray,

The document is part of the rights of a Volume License user rather than a retail product license holder. Let us know if what the MS
response is please.

===============Thanks Bob, I did see that one but it seems to just offer language for language with no way of selecting.
I came across this document
http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/8/9/68964284-864d-4a6d-aed9-f2c1f8f23e14/cross_language.doc
that indicates that it is possible to do what I want. But as to how to do
it, I don't know. Retailers are out of the question because I won't be
purchasing from a local one. I've e-mailed Microsoft and hope that they
reply soon.

I spoke to Microsoft today, the person I was talking to didn't think that
the license would be transferable to an English version. I mentioned that
there was a provision for it in the volume licensing group and she said that
she hadn't heard of such a thing.
So, I could see that it would be a huge hassle if Microsoft themselves were
unsure so I've decided against buying the suit.
You know what they say, "if it sounds too good to be true. . ."
