Ctrl+click for multiple selections

When I use the ctrl+click function for multiple selections, it now opens
a new browser window. How can I make multiple selections or turn of the
open browser function?

IE8 (just upgraded to see if that would eliminate the problem - didn't)
and MS Office 2007, which was working fine until about a week ago.

I went through the MS Office icon to Word to Advance and deselected the
Use Ctrl + Click to follow link. That worked for any MS Office
applications.

I encounter the problem when I use business applications on the web -
from remax.com and the multiple listing service where I live.

Go into Windows Control Panel and then "Mouse". Check the actions for the
mouse buttons and see that they're set for what you want.

If that doesn't work, you might consider posting to a Windows newsgroup, as
this doesn't appear to be a Microsoft Office issue--does it?
