Cube Building Service in Project Server 2007

D

David Blair

Hello - Having gone through all of the setup step-by-step, all seems fine
when building the Cube. I can create Data Analysis Views, etc. The problem
is that the Cube doesn't build automatically based on my settings (every
night). I don't get any error (like it failed to build or anything) and the
status just shows successful completion on the day\time I manually built it
last. Is there some timer service or something I am missing? SQL Server
2005 and Analysis Services 2005 SP2 on one machine, PS 2007 on another. The
Windows SharePoint timer service is started. Thanks.

David, you can set the timer for the cube under Server setting > Cube > cube
Build settings. You can set when the cube should be rebuild on a regular
basis ( e.g. daily).
Hope this helps

Hi Marc,

Yes, I have it set to build each night at 12am. I have even set it to run
each hour and it simply doesn't run by itself. If I click 'Build Now', it
runs and completes just fine. Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Marc -
Yes, all Project Server services (event and queue) are running. We are
using Project Server just fine. All functions going as normal, and like I
said, the cube builds fine manually and people can access Data Analysis
views. It just won't run by itself based on the settings. It doesn't even
try as there is no 'failed' message. Weird, eh?

Thanks, David

Check what time the cube is scheduled to run. What other maintenance tasks
happen at that time. Maybe you could try changing the time to a time you
know it runs properly manually?

I hope you will find an answer to your solution, if not it may be woth
logging a support call directly to MS.
Would be great if you could keep us posted.
Thanks
