Does MS Word or Excel have the capability to assign numerical values to
certain letters and then find the 'sum' of the letters?

excel would be
a better option.

it is however, only
as good as its user.

assigning values to
text and summing
them up is elementary.

....ok. So, is there a way to get a quick lesson. What I'm trying to do is
to compile a paragraph that has to total a certain number. College English.
Fun stuff

hmm,

it does sound like
fun. unfortunately, i have
my own projects.

however, the trick is to assign
a numerical value to a
letter. then build the
expression to identify
the letters, replace them
with the values and
add them up.

Not in word, but swing by the Excel group and ask, explain what you are
trying to do and be explicit. Folks there well help you out.
