Hi Adam!
One way to change the default is to change the Regional Settings
country:
Start > Control Panel > Regional Settings > Country
Select English UK
But that might include other changes that you don't like.
You can change just the currency symbol for your existing Country
setting. If the £ sign is not available in the drop down list of
symbols you can type it in by:
Press and hold down Alt
