Current Tasks

When I view current tasks it lists all the tasks which
have not been entered. The setting is set for 7 days but,
it lists all the old outdated tasks in the current tasks
if they are subtasks. How can I avoid this display &
default the display to show only tasks within the 7 days?
Any ideas would be appreciated?

David

I believe the defininition that Project Server uses for "current tasks" is
any task that should have started, has already started, or will start in the
specified time period (in your case, 7 days). Tasks in the past that should
have started by now are considered current, and in fact, are also overdue
tasks. I assume that is why you are seeing those tasks. Hope this helps.

I am in a situation where the projects are ongoing already
started months before & Project Server has just been
implemented. So, when consultant views current tasks he
views all the outdated tasks which have not been entered.
It is not possible for them to enter the timesheet for
outdated tasks few months old. How can I default view to
show-up only current tasks & not outdated tasks not
entered? Is there a possibility or do we have to stick to
this functionality for old projects?
Regards,
David.

Now that I understand your situation more clearly, I would recommend the
following path to solve your problem:

1. Your project managers need to open every project that has started in the
past and is not yet completed.

2. In each project, they will need to select every task that is in the past
and is already completed, and to manually set those tasks to 100% complete
by clicking Project - Task Information, and setting the % Complete. If the
project managers also know Actual Start or Actual Finish dates for each
task, they could enter those values in place of the % Complete value.

3. The project managers should then save and republish the task assignments
in each project by clicking Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments.
In the Republish Assignments dialog box, they should select the "Overwrite
actual work entered by resources" checkbox and then click OK.

Once this is completed for every project with tasks completed in the past,
your team members will no longer see uncompleted past task assignments on
their Timesheet. They will only see current tasks according to your
definition. Hope this helps.
