currently unable to view a picture in microsoft word.

brochures created previously no longer show the picture. Also unable to
insert a picture in Microsoft word - Microsoft Office basic edition 2003

This is frustrating. documents created on this system and using this
software workded fine before. Now I can no longer view or insert pictures in
word documents. Brochures previously created display everything except the
picture which is simply a white box. Also can not insert pictures or clip
art into any new word document. Email which uses the same editior works
fine. Dell is working on the problem but still no resolution HELP!!!!
