curser acting up

my curser gobbles up text as I add new copy. I hit something on the right
side of the keyboard I think. I have pressed the insert button but it does
not help. this is word 2002. sure appreciate any help

Press the Insert key again (that's what you did to toggle between Insert and
Overtype mode). It's all too easy to hit Insert when you're aiming for
Delete or Backspace.

And you can disable that action under Tools, Options so that it doesn't
happen again.
