Hi Dave,

My answer will only help if you're using a laptop and a mouse. If you're
using a desktop configuration, it'll probably be of no use. I had this
specific problem with my Dell Lattitude D620 laptop that I use for work with
a cabled Logitech mouse attached to it. I'd simply attach the mouse, and not
touch the mouse, and I could swear that sometimes I'd see the cursor moving on
its own. Or when I'm typing it'd suddently put the cursor elsewhere and I'd
be typing in the wrong spot. Very frustrating.

Now the fix: I contacted Dell support they and had me do the following in
the order as shown:

1) Update my BIOS (did not do anything in my opinion, but did so anyway)
2) Go to the Control Panel > Mouse, and make sure that the option to Disable
Touch Stick/Touch Pad when USB pointing device is attached" is checked off.

Since doing those two things I have not experienced the problem at all. I
hope this helps! BTW, if you don't see the Disable Touch Stick/Touch Pad when
USB pointing device is attached option, you might need to reinstall the touch
pad drivers again.

As I said, this will only be helpful if it applies to a laptop situation and
you have a touch pad as well.

Eric
