Cursor jumping around while typing on my laptop

While typing on Word or Outlook, the flashing cursor suddenly moves away from
the point I am at and jumps to another part of the document (not a fixed
point but random) or the PC carries out some other task (such as jumping unto
another application). Just now, when I pressed the letter "O" and space, the
cursor jumped out of the text box. Can you help?
