Cursor on wrong monitor

This has happened to me twice. I'm all set to go with a presentation, the
screen shows my wall paper without icons, just as it should. My laptop has
the PowerPoint (Office 2007 version) open, but not running. But when I want
to click on "start presentation," the cursor is not there. It is displayed
on the screen through the projector, but is not on the screen of my laptop.
How can I get the cursor to move from one screen to the other? Everything
else seems fine. Or how can you start a presentation without a mouse?
Strangely the cursor was on the laptop screen when I opened the
presentation, but for some reason while waiting to begin (a few minutes) it
jumped to the projector screen. I rebooted the computer and it came back in
the right place, but of course this required a considerable delay.
