Cursor position and spaces

Dennis

Hi,

I upgraded the OS to Windows 2000 (clean install) and
installed Office XP with Frontpage. When I started using
Word, I noticed that the spacing between words are not
always equal. Some were larger than others.

When I wanted to delete a word somewhere in the document,
I position the cursor, click it and I delete. What
happens is I delete the letter two positions before what
I want to delete. So the cursor position is always wrong.
It's hard to work on something when I end up deleting the
wrong thing every time.

I tried re-installing Office and applying sp3. Wordpad
works fine. I do not feel like formatting again. I'm sure
this copy of Office works because I installed this on my
previous OS (WinME)

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

Hi, Dennis. Click on Start | Control Panel | Printers, select a different printer than your normal printer and make it the default Windows printer. Then open your Word file... does the problem persist? If not, then you will know that the problem is caused by the printer driver for your normal printer. You can try to fix it by deleting and reinstalling the printer driver for your normal printer, and/or checking the printer manufacturer's website for an updated driver.

Hi,

No good. I removed the printer and the problem is still
there. It's odd how other windows typing programs are
fine.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hi, Dennis. Sorry to hear that. One more idea to try... turn off
hardware acceleration in your video adapter in Start | Control Panel |
Display | Settings | Advanced.
