Cursor Position - Word 2008

Alan

Earlier versions of Word contained a window in the task bar at the
bottom of the screen that indicated not just which page you were on, but
also the line upon which the cursor was presently positioned.

Word 2008 seems to be lacking that - and I can't seem to find a way to
turn it on. Same problem with Word 2007 (Windows version).

Help! Thanks!

If you are a legitimate user of Office 2008 *beta*, you should know that you
are still under NDA and are not supposed to post any questions about the as
yet unreleased product on a public newsgroup.

No idea about Word 2008 (repeat Michel's admonition here), but in Word
2004 that would have been the status bar, and you can turn it on via
Word | Preferences | View--it was an all or nothing deal. I believe Word
2007 made an innovation that allows you to customize items on the status
bar--try right-clicking it and see what happens.

I don't use Word 2007, so no idea if MS removed the feature--or even if
right-clicking is the best/only way to customize the status bar. You
might look in Help re that.

Hi Alan:

You're not going to suck us in to talking about Word 2008 until after it
goes on sale :)

Come back next week :)

Cheers

Ditto the others as to 2008, but Daiya's right about 2007 - Right-Click the
Status Bar & select from a plethora of items available from there. If the
Status Bar is not displayed at all, go to Word Options from the Office
button & turn it on first.
