Cursor problem

When I click on anywhere in a Word document, the vertical cursor indicating
where text will be inserted from time to time does not remain stationary,
but zips along from line to line without stopping. I have Office 2003.

maybe reducing hardware acceleration
might help

go to the desktop, right click, properties,
display, troubleshooting/advance settings.

you might also ant to simply changing the
cursor via the mouse control panel

also, look for a memory defrager
to squeeze more space from memory for the
mouse...

If you're using a laptop then the touch pad may be the cause. Try
reducing the sensitivity and see if that helps.
