curved lines with publisher 03

Ruth

I am making a publication that has a white line (3 pts) going from left to
the center of the publication, cuving down 90 degrees, traveling down several
inches and then turning curving 90 degrees to the right and traveling off the
page. It isn't a s curve because the lines (other than the curve part) travel
horizontal and vertical. The only way I could figure to do it was to make a
large white rounded corner rectangle with no fill (3pts), converting it to a
picture and combining two of them cropped to make the shape. My problem is
that when I make it big like I want, the curved part of the lines are jagged.
I am at a loss as to what to do. I know there has to be a way to get an exact
90 degree curve like that and not have the line be jagged on the bend. I've
seen it done in other publications. I don't know what software was used but
I'm questioning wether it can be done in publisher. Any ideas and suggestions
would be greatly appreciated. I am new to publsihing and figuring it out as I
go.

I have just printed a 7" diameter circle using a 3 pt. line. On the screen
it appears jagged. Printed it is smooth.

I created a couple of graphics with MS Digital
Image Suite and uploaded them to YouSendIt....
the following links will allow you to download
them.

I would suggest saving them to your desktop
and open them in Publisher from there.

Just add them to your Pub project by going to
....Insert / Picture / From file....and browse to the
file on your desktop.

Use autoshapes, lines, draw your line with the free form pen. Use the "edit
points". You can right-click a point to delete, smooth or turn it into a curved
point. Guidelines will help you with the 90 degrees.

As will the Shift key.

I'd do:

Click, Shift (vertical line), Click; Shift (45° line), Click; Shift
(horizontal line), Click. Then set the vertical and horizontal bits to
straight, the middle points to smooth, and the angle bit to a curve.
